To Whom It May Concern:

I am pleased to provide my endorsement for Angela M. Clock for the position of Community Development Vice President of the Michigan Jaycees in 2011.

I have served with Angela on the Board of Directors of the Lansing Jaycees since 2008. During her tenure as Membership Development Vice President, I saw Angela reach out to other chapters and the Michigan Jaycees Board of Directors for new ideas that she brought back to Lansing for evaluation and implementation. While Angela served as 81st President of the Lansing Jaycees, she worked tirelessly to extend the Jaycee experience to both members and prospects by encouraging our membership to attend local, regional and state meetings, trainings and conventions. Angela also supported her Board of Directors in the avenues they chose for their Areas of Opportunity.

This year has brought new challenges to Angela’s doorstep, which she has taken on quite aggressively. While serving as the Chair of the Board, Angela also has transitioned to serve as the Region D Director. Angela has worked hard to ensure all of the chapters in the region are helping each other, as well as taking the time to visit other chapters across the state. The Lansing and Charlotte chapters are looking forward to working together as the Lansing Jaycees Monster Mayhem Haunted House and Charlotte’s Thrill the World will be held next door to each other. This has been made possible by Angela’s constant focus on pooling resources and thinking creatively about how to solve problems.

Most of all, and most importantly, at the local, region and state levels, I have seen Angela work to promote change. The Michigan Jaycees will be a dying organization if we continue to operate as if nothing has changed within our state. Angela is the type of person to acknowledge that change is constant. She recognizes that it is smarter to embrace change and improve the organization instead of maintaining the status quo, only to see an organization that so many of us love die in the process.

I am eager and excited to see all the things Angela M. Clock will do when she serves the Michigan Jaycees in 2011 as the Community Development Vice President.

Sincerely,
Carrie May

To whom this may concern:

In December of 2009 I was elected as president of the Charlotte Jaycees. I had only been a member for 19 months and really had no idea what I was getting myself into. The road looked a bit rough but with the right support I knew that we could be successful. Angela Clock has played a huge role in making the road less bumpy and I am very pleased to see her pursue the Michigan Jaycee Community Vice President position and support her fully.

Angela and I had met several times over the previous year at conventions and events. The success she led Lansing to in 2009 is just one of many testaments of her leadership ability and her dedication to this organization. When she took on the Region D position last fall her dedication to our region was 100% and it shows. She is in constant communication with the chapters, has been out to see us at least once a month, and is always there to lend a hand, give ideas or just listen. Her presence is definitely known and is seen with the ease of how our members greet her and know her as well as her knowing them. It feels more like she is a Charlotte Jaycee rather than a region director because she has made herself at home in our chapter.

After getting to know Angela over the last year I must say that she is compassionate, intelligent, open-minded, hardworking, and dedicated to the Michigan Jaycees and the principles for which we stand. She has expressed a sincere interest in community involvement and leaving this place a little better than what it was. All of these attributes and her ability to lead equate to an excellent candidate for the Michigan Jaycee Community Development Vice President position.

I have been blessed having her as my region director and I am excited about the impact that she can make as Michigan Jaycee Community Development Vice President. Region D has already been over the moon for her and I think the rest of the state will follow as they get to know this incredible young lady. I am very proud and honored to recommend Angela Clock for the Michigan Jaycee Community Development Vice President position.

Sincerely,
Heidi Hansen, D.C.

Dear Michigan Jaycees:

I write today to lend my support for 2011 Community Development Vice President Candidate, Angela Clock, of the Lansing Jaycees. I have known Angela since 2003 when she served as an AmeriCorps Member for Muskegon’s AmeriCorps, a program I directed for five years. Angela also became my very first recruit as a Greater Muskegon Jaycees in 2004 and has since excelled in her Jaycee career through the Lansing chapter and Michigan Junior Chamber.

I believe that Angela is the right person to help the Community Development initiative move forward for our chapters, continuing the goal set in 2010 to keep community efforts local and applicable to the needs facing each unique community. While state and national programming, i.e. Relay for Life, is an important aspect to our organization, each community and chapter must develop strong relationships at the local level in order to sustain and grow this organization. Local first is an important concept.

Not only does Angela have the professional background of community organizing at a grassroots level through her AmeriCorps experience, she also has several years experience working in our state capitol as a Legislative Assistant. This important aspect of her experience will transfer excellently to chapters across the state of Michigan. Her knowledge of educating elected officials and engaging our Jaycee generations in a uniformed voice will be beneficial to her entire team.

In closing, Angela’s professional experiences combined with her Jaycee experiences make her an excellent candidate for this office. She has my full endorsement.

Sincerely,
Kris Collee
2010 Community Development Vice President, Michigan Jaycees
74th President, Greater Muskegon Jaycees

I have had the opportunity to get know Angela Clock over the last 2 years while we both served as Chapter Presidents and now as part of the Region/District Director team to the Michigan Jaycees. During this time, I have seen Angela propel her home Chapter of Lansing to amazing success. That has continued this year in her work as Region D Director. She is honest, hard working, dedicated and an advocate for those in need. Every goal she has set has been accomplished with great success. She has an extensive background in the political arena and a true passion for her community. For these reasons, I fully endorse Angela Clock for the 2011 Community Vice President of the Michigan Jaycees.

To Whom It May Concern:

In the relatively short amount of time that I have known Angela Clock, I have gained great amounts of respect for her. I met her while she was the president of the Lansing Jaycees. She was very friendly and took the time to get to know me. From this, I could see that she had great potential at helping out others that she did not even really know. I also could sense the fire in her to strive for great things. She was very enthusiastic and eager to share what projects her chapter had going on, even going to the great length of inviting me/my chapter to help in their projects. The reciprocal was also true. She asked me what my chapter had coming up, so that she/her chapter could try to make it to our events to help us as well.

This drive and energy has only continued through this year, as she stepped up to become the Region D Director. Everything that she had been doing in the past only amplified, as she brought this energy and vigor to help out the chapters in Region D, as well as throughout the state. If I ever had a question on how the paperwork needed to be submitted, and I could not reach my Region/District directors, I knew I could count on an answer from her. Along with this, she took the time to promote herself, by competing in Master Speak-Up, which she in turn won at the National US Jaycees convention in New Orleans.

With everything that Angela has brought to the table in the 1-2 years I have known her, I am convinced she would be a great candidate to run for the Michigan Jaycees Community Development Vice President this next year, as she will continue to help this organization by bringing enthusiasm to the rest of the chapters in Michigan.

Sincerely,
Steve G Pickelmann

To Whom It May Concern,

I am honored to endorse Angela Clock as the Michigan Jaycees 2011 Community Vice President. Angela is a current member of the Lansing Jaycees and is actively serving as Chair of the Board. She has been actively involved in several community projects during the past year(s). As president of the Lansing Jaycees I have seen the direct impact of her involvement.

The Community Area of Opportunity allows the Jaycees to create impact in their communities. The Commissions under Community are: Community Service, Community Fundraising, Government and Civic Involvement and Children and Youth Commission.

As our 2009 President, Angela Clock oversaw 14 community events. This included some of our chapter’s standards: Easter Egg Hunt on the Capitol Lawn, Face Painting at the East Lansing Art Festival, Children’s Shopping Spree and Stuff the Bus. Some of our past events were reintroduced such as: Relay for Life, Ronald McDonald House dinner and helping the Beekman Therapeutic Riding Center. In 2009, over 1,400 man hours were logged, $10,038.57 in cash and in-kind donations and 53 individual members participated in the events. During Angela’s tenure as president the Lansing Jaycees received recognition from the Michigan Jaycees for our programming in Community Area of Opportunity.

As our 2010 Chair of the Board, Angela Clock has been involved in Easter Egg Hunt, ELAF Face Painting, Bowl For Kids Sake, Rebuilding Together and Relay for Life. She has recently chaired a Book Drive, which involved the community dropping off books for donation in bins placed at several local businesses. The books will benefit the Capital Area Literacy Coalition and Reach and Read Michigan. We are still collecting books, however since this is a new event for the chapter I applaud her efforts for getting this up and running.

I have had the pleasure of serving on the Board of Directors with Angela Clock for two years and I can say that she is a passionate leader who is always looking for new opportunities to positively impact the Lansing Community. I strongly endorse Angela Clock as Vice President of the Community Area of Opportunity as I am convinced she will carry forward the passion that she has for the Lansing Community and apply it to the entire state.

Sincerely,
Angela M. Fossi
82nd President – Lansing Jaycees
